Outstanding Volunteer Award
This award is dedicated to celebrating the individuals who quietly give their time, energy, and heart to support our students, staff, and school community—often without seeking any recognition.
These are the people who show up early, stay late, lend a hand without being asked, and make our days run just a little smoother. They embody the spirit of service that strengthens our school in ways big and small.
Who can nominate?
Students, staff members, and families are all welcome to submit nominations.
Who can be nominated?
Any volunteer—parent, guardian, family member, community partner, or even an older student—who contributes to our school in meaningful ways.
Possible reasons to nominate someone might include:
They consistently help with tasks “behind the scenes,” such as organizing supplies, prepping materials, shelving books, or tidying shared spaces.
They support classrooms, teachers, or school events without being asked or expecting recognition.
They build positive relationships with students and contribute to a welcoming, supportive school environment.
They show exceptional reliability—always stepping in when help is needed or when a last-minute request arises.
They demonstrate creativity, initiative, or problem-solving that benefits our school.
They make others feel valued and cared for through small but meaningful acts of kindness.
They go above and beyond to strengthen communication or collaboration between school and families.
When and how will honorees be recognized?
Our Outstanding Volunteer Award recipients will be celebrated during our monthly school assemblies. Each honoree will receive a certificate of recognition as well as a small token of appreciation to honor and thank them for their contributions. We hope this public celebration helps our students see familiar faces and recognize the importance of participating in our community, and anyone can make a difference.
We hope this award will help shine a light on the many individuals who make our school a better place, simply by showing up and giving what they can.
Thank you for helping us recognize the heart of our school community!
District Volunteer Procedures
All volunteers are required to complete this process to volunteer during the school year.
Volunteer Procedures:
Signing up to become a volunteer for the Hillsboro School District is relatively easy. Once your application has cleared, it is good for two years.
There are three basic steps to becoming a volunteer.
Read the district's Volunteer Handbook
Complete the online Volunteer Application and Criminal History Verification Form, which provides consent for a background check. (Human Resources will contact you if additional information is needed)
Contact your school to confirm approval and to receive your volunteer assignments. Be sure to wear your volunteer badge and sign in and out in the main office.
Once you have completed the application, finger printing and allowed for processing (approximately one week), you must check with our office manager in the Jackson office. She can let you know if you have been cleared. Once you have confirmed that you have been cleared, check with your child's teacher or the PTO for available volunteer opportunities.
Please Remember To Always Check In With The Office, Sign In And Out On The Clipboard, And Wear Your Volunteer Badge.
